Screamin' Demon

Marc Burstein, from BC Canada, always has lots of projects going on, including a 440 Mirada, a '40 Plymouth Coupe, and this 440 Demon.
The car is a 3090lb. '71 Demon. It has a V-8 K-member and uses the stock trans mount, he used elephant ears from Mancini to mount the 440, 2" CPPA headers and it has manual steering and power brakes. A built 727 holds a 3200 stall Rossi converter, which, heads back to a narrowed FORD 9" with 4.56's and 31 spline axles. He went with a back-half frame, full cage and ladder bars with one degree down pinion and coil overs. It's in the movie "Taillights Fade" with Denise Richards and Jake Busey, which came out in December '99.
The '69 440 has 10.5:1 pistons, enlarged oil passages, 1/2" pickup, high volume pump, windage tray and a 7qt. moroso pan. A 484/284 cam works with rebuilt 906 heads and an M-1 tunnel ram with two Holley 450's, electronic ignition with the chrome box, and it all goes out the good ole 2" CPPA headers. Marc states that it runs great, and even PASSES the BC "AIRCARE" emissions tests!!
Marc says the car works great, but commented that he's gone through two sets of gears in the 9" and the next car will have an 8 3/4.

Also, on the headers..."those damn headers take out my starter every 6 months to a year. I solved the burning plug boot problem by rolling up fire blanket strips (from a bodyshop) and squeezing it between the header and the plug boot. My "new" MP lightweight starter is presently awaiting replacement.... I'm thinking of trying a Mallory "orbiting solenoid"starter, wrapping it and installing a heat shield." ...if anyone has any info on these starters, let us know, as I'm thinking about it too.
